Interview with Robert A Sutton

Interview with Robert A Sutton,
MFRE Ameriprise Financial servivces

I first learned of the MYT program and the EQ work while attending several leadership training days at Ameriprise. Many people in the audience and in our leadership team had attended the program or knew of it. I was fortunate enough to eventually attend a session in September of 2010. Coincidentally, this happened to occur at a time of great stress in my personal life. The timing couldn’t have been better and the class in NYC was informative and thought provoking. I received my IDP shortly after and it accurately identified areas of focus and concern that were pretty well on the mark. The class had provided several techniques and thought processes that could be readily adapted to my areas of focus as identified in the IDP.

The observers and my instructors were valuable in providing insight and guidance in our frequent discussions and follow up calls. The coaching calls focused on the targeted areas, my success (or lack thereof) in applying the techniques taught in the class and followup items to work on the next call. My observers were a significant part of the overall process as they offered insight on my daily activities and attitudes.

I did the course and continue to rely on the techniques to address my target areas. I think I have had a very positive experience and the retests for the IDP showed significant progress. I do believe that employing the techniques and learnings from the coaching calls and classes have reduced my stress levels and allowed me to deal with life on a better level. I certainly react differently to stressful items and the course helped me come through a stressful time in my life in a very comfortable and rewarding fashion.
